Match Report
This was our last game of the season, and it proved a tough one. We entertained a strong Kewford side that proved too good for us on the day.
The game started well for Penn with some strong defending from George thwarting an early attempt by Kewford. The game developed with Gabriel dribbling towards the Kewford goal, which was defended well and put out of play. George with a quick throw in and immediate shot from Gabriel went wide. Kewford hit back with some good goal kicking to put pressure on Penns defence, George and Dilan defended well to protect Charlies goal. Free kick to Kewford, which unluckily went wide. Ball back in play with Harry passing to Gabriel, who received the ball while at the same time being fouled, Rohan replaced an injured Gabriel with 10 mins to go.
It wasnt long before Kewford opened the goal scoring, taking Charlie by surprise. Game restarted with Kewford piling on the pressure but again George was strong in defence. Good team work between Charlie and Harry, with Harry finding space wide on the wing, Charlie acknowledging Harrys shout with good passing allowing Penn to attack.
Dilan throw-in to George who passed it to Charlie across his own box, Charlie cleared out, but Kewford were straight back on the ball, scoring and making it 2-0 at half time.
Second half started with the same pressure from Kewford with an immediate shot on goal which was saved well by Charlie. Again good goal kick from Charlie found Gabriel wide on the wing, which allowed him to score pulling it back to 2-1. Game resumed with couple of subst itutions from Penn, Kewford took control of the second half with two early goals, either side of Charlie being subbed for George in Goal. William replaced Dilan with the same determined defending, whilst Dalraj playing equally well with some last minute tackling. Kewfords pressure continued with another shot and goal. 5-1. Penn strengthened their midfield with the introduction of Charlie, who ran hard and was determined to impress (his coach). Good play by Penn, but they couldnt break Kewfords defence down, Kewford proved too strong and went on to secure the win 6-1.
Great team performance all round with excellent defending by man of the match George Davis. Well done lads and have a great summer.
