Match Report
In true form it was only minutes into the game when the first strike at the Penn Colts goal was made which was fortunately saved. The game did show promise as there was some good passing between Rohan, Ryan and Shane but with a free kick awarded to Gornal there was a second strike and save for Penn Colts. Penn did manage an attack on Gornal with a tackle from Niall that was passed to Rohan who had two strikes at goal but both were saved. It was shortly after this that Gornal scored their first goal of the match immediately followed by a second. The attack was sustained with a further save that was kicked clear by Niall, two that missed target and another that was cleared by Dlaraj and Harry. The effort then paid off with a third goal for Gornal. It was then Penn on the attack, Dalraj passing to Harry, then to Shane who took the strike but this was again saved and quickly returned to the Penn goal where Gornal increased their lead to 4-0 after their initial strike reboun
ded. The ball returned once more before half time to the Gornal goal but was again quickly returned to the Penn end where the first half ended.
Early signs looked good with the ball heading straight to the Gornal goal courtesy of Ryan and Harry whose strike just missed target. Unfortunately, as usual this was not to be maintained and the ball quickly returned to the Penn end where there were three further saves and a miss for Gornal. After a short period of play in mid-field the attack was on once more and a fifth goal for Gornal was scored. The boys never gave up and the match resumed at the Gornal goal where there was another strike for Harry that missed. This was then followed by a tackle from Rohan to take back control of the ball who passed to Kieran who crossed to Shane setting him up for a strike that rewarded Penn Colts with their first goal of the match. The game then seemed to play out the final minutes moving from one end of the field to the other with a saved and missed goal for Gornal Colts and two further misses from Shane. The game ended 6-1 to Gornal Colts.
